Empowering People & Engaging Community
Beyond Welfare is an organization committed to building communities of caring that
cross the lines of difference that usually separate us, such as socio economic status,
ability, education, and race.
So that everyone has enough money, meaning and friends, we invite all to share their
gifts with the community, we honor all needs in the spirit of friendship and compassion,
and we treat everyone as a leader.
We meet with a free meal at 5:30 p.m. each Thursday, in the Fellowship Hall at
Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 Sheldon Ave., in Ames.
At 6:30 p.m. we move upstairs for community meeting where we share our practices
and principles, what’s new and good in our lives, and our wants, needs and offers. We
encourage children and teen-agers to be a part of the community, and we provide child
care for the little ones.
We finish promptly at 8 p.m.
