| Beyond Welfare, Inc. Opportunities to Get Involved in the Work to End Poverty in Story County Attend a Thursday Night Community Leadership Team Dinner and Meeting • Every Thursday night from 5:30-8pm • Located at Collegiate Presbyterian Church, 159 North Sheldon • Childcare and meal provided • Be a part of building relationships across class, race, and cultural lines and join the conversation about how we can end poverty in our county Becoming an Ally to a Circle of Support, a volunteer committed to working side by side with a family or individual who wants to move out of poverty or who needs support around other issues • Quarterly orientations • On-going support Become an “ad hoc” (as needed) ally • These allies are “on call” to help Circles of Support meet incidental needs as they arise, such as providing rides, household repairs, tutoring, moving a family, etc. Be a Reiman Gardens Partner • Build relationships with participants in Beyond Welfare to assure that people with low-income in Story County have the opportunity to enjoy the gardens, butterfly wing, conservatory, etc. What a fun way to get to know someone! Donate a car to Wheels to Work • This is the Beyond Welfare Vehicle Donation Program. • Matches donated vehicles with families and individuals in the community who are working on higher education and employment to get out of poverty, in exchange for community service reciprocity • Nearly 150 vehicles have been transferred to date! • Cash donations are always welcome to support the vehicle repair and transfer costs to make “Wheels to Work” really work! • Vehicle and financial donations are tax deductible. You will receive information about monthly meeting topics and menus, Beyond Welfare events, current wants, needs, and offers, and other ways you can become involved with our organization!
