| There’s No Place Like Home! (Especially a Repaired Home) Tornado-themed Fundraiser to Benefit Parkersburg Recovery and Beyond Welfare The Beyond Welfare group is sponsoring a fundraising event on May 31 with the theme of tornadoes in Iowa and in famous movies. Doors open at 12:30 pm at the Collegiate United Methodist Annex just west of the ISU campus at 130 S. Sheldon Ave. A well- supplied silent auction includes: restaurant meals, jewelry, a glider ride, lots of Wizard of Oz collectibles, entertainment, art and much more. A children’s magic show starts at 1: 00pm, followed by a National Weather Service presentation about tornadoes and an update about the Parkersburg recovery. On-going will be a well-known classic tornado movie, children’s activities & a trivia challenge about the Wizard of Oz story and Iowa tornadoes. A general audience magic show is at 3:00pm and the silent auction ends just after that. Admission is $5 for adults (18 yrs and older), $3 for students (6 – 17 yrs), and $1 for munchkins (5 yrs and younger). Additional donations are welcomed. For further information call (515)292-2722.
